Blue collar jobs in India: over 2 million blue and gray collar job vacancies in January-March

India’s blue-collar job market showed a robust 73% growth in job vacancies in January-March last fiscal year (FY22) compared to the previous quarter, according to data from Qjobs, part of .

More than 2 million blue-collar and gray-collar job postings were posted on the Qjobs platform in the fourth quarter, reflecting improved market sentiment on the back of increased consumer shopping and business recovery trade which have led to an increase in the demand for labor in many sectors.

The retail and banking and financial services (BFSI) sectors have seen a sharp rebound in activity across the country. The data shows that most Tier II and Tier III cities are seeing a continued recovery in hiring across all sectors. Major sectors included BPO/customer service, delivery, data entry/back office, field sales, and retail/counter sales categories.

Delhi (15%) and Bengaluru (14%) house the largest share of jobs with 29% of overall job postings on Qjobs. Mumbai (13%), Hyderabad (8%) and Pune (7%), followed by Delhi and Bangalore, are India’s top five cities for blue and gray collar jobs.
