Dog Collar Matching Rules for AEW Revolution

CM Punk and MJF will face off at AEW Revolution on Sunday, March 6 in a Dog Collar Match. Here are the rules of the fight.

AEW Revolution 2022, taking place on Sunday, March 6, has all the potential to be the best wrestling show of the entire year. There are 12 matches in progress, the majority of which have a lot of hype around them. Maybe a match taking place at the pay-per-view event will get all the fans talking.

CM Punk and MJF have engaged in a heated rivalry that dates back to last fall. Now the two are set to face off at Revolution in a dog collar match, one of the most brutal stipulations in pro wrestling history. For those wondering what exactly a dog collar match entails, we’ve got you covered.

CM Punk vs MJF: Dog Collar Matching Rules for AEW Revolution

The rules are quite simple. Punk and MJF will each wear a leather dog collar around their necks. However, the two necklaces will be connected by a steel chain, which can be used as a weapon by either performer. The only way to win this match is by pinfall or submission.

This isn’t the first time a dog collar match has taken place in an AEW ring. Cody Rhodes faced the late Brodie Lee for the TNT Championship on the October 7, 2020 episode of Dynamite. Rhodes won the match to regain the title.

Punk and MJF go head-to-head for the second time. They previously snatched Dynamite on February 2, which MJF won after hitting Punk with the Dynamite Diamond ring while the referee wasn’t looking.

After defeating MJF’s Pinnacle stablemates FTR in a tag team match with Jon Moxley, Punk had earned his match pick against his rival. Punk informed MJF that they would be participating in a dog collar match at Revolution.

MJF revealed in a heartfelt promo the effect Punk quitting wrestling in 2014 had on him, which drew sympathy from his idol. But on March 2 Dynamite, MJF hugged Punk before kicking him below the belt and bleeding him with the Dynamite Diamond to give Revolution a taste of how brutal this match was.
