THE PEOPLE Vs. release special t-shirts for Ausmusic T-shirt Day

THE PEOPLE Vs. is marking Ausmusic T-Shirt Day this year by creating two limited-edition t-shirts with visuals of famous Australian photographer Sophie Howarth.

The annual event to raise awareness and celebrate the best in Australian music takes place on Friday, November 19. To do their part for the cause, THE PEOPLE Vs. has collaborated with Support Act to release their special t-shirts: 100% of the net proceeds from all sales will be donated to the organization, which provides disaster relief services. crisis and mental health to those who do it hard.

Howarth rose to fame for his historical documentation of the underground festival and music scene in the 90s and 2000s, capturing all the chaos and excitement of that era. She also took intimate portraits of Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Silverchair, and Nick Cave.

His collaboration with THE PEOPLE Vs. visually pays homage to the idealisms championed by those early years of the Australian festival and the profound impact it had on shaping the alternative subculture of an entire generation. The t-shirts feature Howarth’s iconography at the 1996 and 2000 Big Day Out festivals respectively.

Heath Mawson, THE PEOPLE versus. Brand Director, revealed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “This collaboration is close to my heart; live music and festivals were a right of passage, your first taste of hedonism and total freedom. People were going on pilgrimage from all over and gathered at that time for one thing, music. Music has been and always will be one of the most united forces, ”she said.

“Sophie Howarth’s visuals perfectly capture an expression of that pleasure, which the world has sadly missed in recent years. We wanted to remind people of this era of inclusion and how it was part of the building blocks that have shaped our under-spent youth and the cultural DNA that is The People Vs.
