The Saw Doctors announce exclusive UK festival for Wickham Festival 2022
The Irish roots-rock legends join a line-up including Martha Wainwright, Skinny Lister, The Levellers, Show of Hands and Gilbert O’Sullivan, plus many more during their four-day tour from August 4-7 .
Guitarist Leo Moran said, “It’s a Blues Brothers moment here in the Saw Doctors camp. To quote John Belushi’s character, Jake: “We’re putting the band back together.”
“What a relief to be playing live again after two years of Covid.”
Since forming in 1986, The Saw Doctors have earned a reputation as a go-to live band.
In 2017, the popular Irish band sold out a 10-date UK tour that included several sold-out shows at London’s Shepherd’s Bush and Glasgow Barrowland.
Their date at Wickham is a major blow for the organizers of the festival. The band have also announced four UK dates in November and December, all of which have already sold out.

Organizer Peter Chegwyn said: “The Saw Doctors have been longtime favorites here and the response has been incredible, with ticket sales taking a real boost with fans eager to see them return to these shores after so long. .”
“They’ve had a four-year hiatus from touring, partly due to the pandemic. But now they’re ready to hit the road again. As soon as we heard they were playing live again, we called them. to persuade them to come especially for us.
“It’s a huge deal for us to get them and we’re delighted they’ve accepted.
“I know other festivals wanted them, but I like to think they chose us because of our unique atmosphere and always being so well received.”
Singer Davy Carton said: “We are very happy to be back at Wickham. It’s an event that is close to our hearts, we love to play there.
“The atmosphere is very special and the crowd is always amazing. We aim to give them a real party. It’s going to be a great night, the kind I almost wish I was in the crowd.
Founding member Moran added: “We are really looking forward to getting back to playing live and Wickham was an obvious choice for our first visit to the UK. We have so many friends there and now we can’t wait to get back on stage.
The Saw Doctors will headline Friday night, while The Waterboys will close the event on Sunday, August 7.
Mr Chegwyn added: “It’s a fantastic line-up filled with lots of old favorites and lots of new bands as well.”
“It’s a great mix and proving popular with tickets selling out fast, especially since we announced the Saw Doctors.
“The most important thing though is the atmosphere that will remain the same as we return to two big milestones now that the pandemic restrictions have been lifted.”
Four-day tickets for the family event cost £200 for adults, with half price for under-16s and free for under-10s.
