Throwback to when Justin Bieber wore a Nirvana t-shirt to the American Music Awards in Los Angeles, take a look
Nirvana fans are furious that Justin Bieber wore a shirt with the band’s name on it to the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday, November 22.
The 21-year-old singer of “What Do You Mean?” wore a grunge shirt with ripped jeans and white shoes. Fans of the rock band immediately took notice and berated him on social media.
One commenter wondered, “Does Justin Bieber even know who Nirvana is?” “I feel like if the interviewer asked him what his favorite Nirvana song was, he would say it smacks of teenage spirit,” said another.
Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear were among the founding members of Nirvana, which formed in 1987. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “All Apologies” are two of their biggest singles.
Meanwhile, Bieber may be more focused on his performance than the naysayers. Larry Klein, the executive producer of her new album Purpose, recently detailed what fans can expect from her performance. “We planned it as if it were three independent acts of a Broadway play.” “He’s doing a three-song medley,” he told ABC earlier this week, “each a different part of the stage, each with their own set, setting and style.” “I mean, one will have dancers, while the other won’t.” “One will have a band, while the other won’t. It’s basically three distinct aesthetics that blend seamlessly together.
