More than 700 workers got a special Eid surprise when nonprofit Magical Smiles UAE showed up on their doorstep with a treat.

The volunteers, including five children, accompanied by leading Emirati businessman Dr Bu Abdulla and Khaled Nawab Albloushi, chairman of the Nabda Al Emarat volunteer team, handed out biryani and other accompaniments to the workers .

Two-year-old Zahra was the youngest volunteer.

“It was great to sit with everyone in my room and enjoy Eid biryani,” said Shoukath Ali, who is from the Indian state of Bihar and has worked in Dubai for more than 14 years. “I haven’t celebrated Eid with my family since I arrived here, but today I felt like I was with my family away from home. Even at home, we go out for prayers Eid and then come back to eat biryani with the whole family. It’s the same feeling I had today sitting with everyone and eating.

This is not the first time that Magical Smiles UAE has distributed meals to blue-collar workers. During Ramadan, the organization distributed more than 200 meals every day. The team also organized meals and programs during Islamic New Year, Diwali and Christmas.

“Bringing smiles is our team motto,” said Tara Shah Khan, President of Magical Smiles UAE. “We’re trying to spread some happiness to those who live away from their families and can’t celebrate the holidays with them.”

“Our mission is to make them feel at home here in the United Arab Emirates. Giving them a dawaat (feast) is the least we can do for all the services they render to us. They are our real guests. We try to make them as comfortable as possible. We do not take their photos because for many it looks like a media circus and they do not want to reveal their situation to the families.
