WATCH: Miley Cyrus suffers wardrobe malfunction as her shirt falls off while singing ‘Party In The USA’
Miley Cyrus rang in 2022 alongside co-host Pete Davidson during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami, Florida, and the singer didn’t let a wardrobe malfunction stop the show as she performed perfectly without skipping a beat.
On Friday (December 31), the superstar suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her silver shirt fell off while switching her performance from “We Can’t Stop” to “Party In The USA.” However, Cyrus didn’t let that stop the show, as she quickly and perfectly corrected the problem and held the shirt in place until she turned her back to the camera and walked off stage to grab a jacket. red that she wore earlier in the show.
His band and background singers kept the show going as Cyrus didn’t miss a beat and returned to the stage shirtless in a red jacket.
“Everybody’s definitely watching me now,” Cyrus sang, as she altered the lyrics to her 2009 anthem to fit the script perfectly. Adding, “I still wear most of the clothes I’ve ever worn on stage.”

At the end of the show, Cyrus let the wardrobe number serve as a New Year’s lesson, allowing viewers to expect the unexpected.
“Thank you very much, everyone, thank you. Tonight’s show was all about being flexible, rolling with the punches, and making the best of the worst circumstances. And that resilience shouldn’t stop there. Let’s bring that into the new year with us,” Cyrus said as the show wrapped up.
Cyrus continued, “We’ve all been taught to expect the unexpected, and rather than seeing it as a problem, let’s see it as an opportunity. Wishing everyone here in Miami and everyone watching from home a Happy New Year 2022. Thank you for making tonight possible. You were really all I needed to throw the ultimate party.
Additionally, during the New Year’s Eve concert special, which aired on NBC, Cyrus debuted a new live single, titled “You.”
She made her live debut on the piano track at the end of the show, adorned in a bright red dress.
“I’ve got baggage / Let’s do some damage / I’m not made for horses and carriages / You know I’m wild / You look beyond / I want that sweet late night magic / That everlasting love / But only if it’s with you,” Cyrus sang.
The show ended with a fireworks display worthy of a grand finale.
Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, which had 11.2 million viewers and was the most searched topic on Google in the US with over 1 million searches, also featured performances by Cyrus as well as Brandi Carlile, Billie Joe Armstrong, Saweetie, Anitta, Jack Harlow, 24kGoldn and Kitty Ca$h.
Co-hosted by Cyrus and Pete Davidson, the multi-hour concert special brought a youthful twist to the Miami, Florida celebration, produced by Saturday Night Live designer Lorne Michaels.
The show aired live at 10:30/9:30 a.m. on NBC as well as streaming on the Peacock app.
