The Saw Doctors are set to appear at the Wickham Festival this summer

CELEBRATED Irish rockers The Saw Doctors will celebrate 30 years of touring the UK with an exclusive track at the Wickham Festival this summer.

The gig, on August 4, will be the band’s first gig in the UK in five years and their only festival appearance of 2022.

The announcement rounds out a lineup filled with perennial favorites, including the Waterboys who close out the event on Sunday, August 7.

Lead singer Davy Carton said: “We are very happy to be back at Wickham. It’s an event that is close to our hearts, we love to play there.

“The atmosphere is very special and the crowd is always amazing. We aim to give them a real party. It’s going to be a great night, the kind where I almost wish I was in the crowd!

Over the years, The Saw Doctors have earned a reputation as a go-to live band. Famous for their relentless energy, their live show is still performed with as much passion and fervor as their legendary small town gigs 30 years ago in Ireland.

The band recently announced four major UK shows in the run up to Christmas, but Wickham fans will get an exclusive sneak peek.

Organizer Peter Chegwyn said: “We are delighted they are swapping their beloved N17 for the U27 to play at the Wickham Festival.

“The Saw Doctors are longtime favorites here. It’s a huge deal for us to get them and we’re glad they accepted. I know other festivals wanted them, but I like to think they chose us because of our unique atmosphere and always being so well received.”
